What crisis? Cech plays down crisis talk

Goalkeeper Petr Cech insists there is no crisis in the dressing room after Chelsea began their Champions League campaign with a disappointing 1-1 draw against Rosenborg. Chelsea's failure to beat the Norwegians at Stamford Bridge was compounded by their lowest crowd for years. But it did not stop disgruntled fans from voicing their opinions with a chorus of boos at the final whistle as Jose Mourinho's side failed to overcome a team expected to be the group's whipping boys. Chelsea dominated the game and mustered 29 shots on goals but could only find the net on one occasion - a 53rd-minute equaliser from Andriy Shevchenko. The Norwegians had stunned Chelsea by taking a 24th-minute lead through Miika Koppinen and conceding goals from set pieces is becoming a major worry for Mourinho. But Cech is adamant that despite their poor start to the Premier League and a miserable result against Rosenborg, the spirit within the dressing room remains buoyant ahead of the clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Cech said: 'The spirit is still there, though now is the time for it to come through. It is easy to play when you win every game each week and score five goals. 'It is easy to be part of the team when that is happening. But it is more difficult when things are going against you and you don't have great results. 'That's what is happening now. It is up to us to pick ourselves up. But we still have a belief, a confidence. In our last two games, we were superior to our opponents and created a lot of chances. 'We need that killer instinct. You can't just keep wasting chances. At the moment, we're creating lots. The day will come when we create only one or two and we have to put them away. 'We were unlucky not to score the goals which would have given us victories. Against Rosenborg we had 29 shots, scored once, hit the woodwork, saw them clear the ball off the line. 'We could have played three days and we'd never have scored more than one goal.' But although they had their chances, the increasing concern for Mourinho is the way his side have started to concede goals from set pieces. Against Rosenborg, Koppinen's goal arrived via a free-kick, needlessly given away by Claude Makelele, and Cech is anxious for them to end that vulnerability. The Czech international added: 'We need to stop conceding from free-kicks. By our high standards, we've conceded too many goals this season from set plays and that wasn't the case last time around. 'We really need to think about that and try to change something, but we are still positive and confident going up to United.'
