Samba rushed to hospital in a neck brace

LONDON, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Blackburn defender Christopher Samba was taken to hospital on Saturday after being knocked unconscious in a goalmouth clash during his side's 0-0 Premier League draw at Chelsea. Blackburn manager Mark Hughes said the Congolese player had been kicked in the back of the head and had twisted his neck in the clash in the 85th minute. 'He's on his way to hospital as we speak. I don't think he had come round in the dressing room so there is a bit of concern,' Hughes said. Samba, who had been caught by the boot of Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, was treated on the pitch for six minutes and put in a neck brace before being carried off on a stretcher.
