Premier Showdown - Sept 1/2

Dale Johnson secured a hat-trick of victories last weekend to set the pace in this season's contest. It means the Rest of the World have had a real shocker - pointless after four rounds. Now that's not the form of back-to-back champions, is it?

Tommy's been performing well so far and must fancy his chance of adding to his tally before the players drift off for the international break.

Trying to restore a bit of pride for the ROTW this weekend is Paul Papa-Adams from Perth in Australia.

Paul tells us: 'I'm a 43-year-old company director who is a life-long Spurs supporter and I'm feeling quite positive about the season after the game at Old Trafford. Good players are coming back to fitness so it can only get better.

'I can't tell you the amount of times I've hurled abuse at Tommy Smyth (with a Y) and sympathised with Janus. However as this season has gone on I realise that Janus doesn't know what he is talking about either!

'The predictions for this week favour home teams because most of the better teams are at home this week.'

Let's play!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.

It was one of the highest-scoring rounds on record, and it's Tommy who comes through with a whopping 13 points totake his second victory of the season. It's more woe for the ROTW!

Tommy tells Paul: 'Go back to screaming at the telly in private. You had your chance to do something in the public but failed. Action always speaks louder than words!'

Table after Round 5:
Dale: 9
Tommy: 6
Rest of the World: 0

FINAL TABLE 2006/07:
Rest of the World: 47.5
