Former Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld has signed a four-month deal with Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam.
The 32-year-old was a free agent after his contract at Spanish side Almeria was not renewed.
According to a statement on the club website, the 32-year-old has penned a four-month deal as a replacement for the injured Harald Wapenaar, who is suffering with a long-term back problem.
Reserve goalkeeper Cor Varkevisser has failed to make a big impression so far, forcing the club to bring in the former Liverpool custodian.
Last season, Westerveld, who has also played for FC Twente, Vitesse and Real Sociedad, helped Almeria win promotion to the Primera Liga.
