Indiana and Maryland played to a 1-1 double overtime tie at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic at Jerry Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium Friday night.
Kevin Noschang gave No. 8 Indiana a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 25th minute, but the ninth-ranked Maryland Terrapins replied in kind a minute later through Graham Zusi.
"It is a disappointing result for us, but it is early in the season and we have another game to get ready for," said head coach Mike Freitag. "Tonight we were not at our best, but you also have to give a lot of credit to Maryland. We will take a look at the positives and get ready for UCLA on Sunday."
Brad Ring had a chance to win the game for the Hoosiers in the waning minutes of regulation as he collected the rebound of Andy Adlard's corner kick, but Maryland goalkeeper Will Swaim tallied one of his four saves to keep the game deadlocked.
