Newcastle United have beaten the transfer deadline to complete the signings of Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye.
The pair had been expected to make the move to St James' Park but left it late to confirm their three-year deals.
The 29-year-old Beye, who can operate at right-back or centre-back, arrives from French outfit Marseille, where he was skipper, and has also represented his native Senegal.
He featured in both legs of the Ligue 1 side's UEFA Cup semi-final victory over United in 2004.
Faye has followed United boss Sam Allardyce north from Bolton after being signed by the Trotters in 2005, making 60 Premier League appearances and scoring three times for the Lancashire club.
