Despite Beckham injury, RSL won't offer refunds
SALT LAKE CITY -- Real Salt Lake will not offer refunds to fans who bought tickets to see David Beckham of the Los Angeles Galaxy, a spokesman said Friday.
Beckham could miss the rest of the Major League Soccer season because of a sprained right knee.
RSL heavily promoted the Sept. 19 game against the Galaxy and had just 1,000 seats remaining. Capacity for soccer at Rice-Eccles Stadium is 25,562.
"This will be our highest-attended game," spokesman John Koluder said. "We will not be offering refunds.
"Beckham is the face of the Galaxy so we were using him as part of the promotion" he acknowledged. "That being said, we cannot guarantee any player appearances."
RSL, with a record of 3-11-6, has averaged 15,816 fans at home games.
