Charlton welcome back Mills on loan

Charlton have completed the loan signing of their former full-back Danny Mills from Manchester City. Mills, 30, spent 15 months at The Valley between March 1998 and June 1999 before a £4million move to Leeds and has now returned to the Addicks on loan until the end of the year. The former England international was part of the Charlton side which won promotion to the Premier League in 1998 by beating Sunderland at Wembley, and manager Alan Pardew was delighted to secure his signature. 'The reason we brought Danny Mills to the club is we feel we are lacking a bit of organisation at the back and at times, a little bit of experience,' said Pardew. 'We also needed someone, I think, who is aware what this division is about.' Mills has not played competitive football since November last year when a loan spell at Hull was curtailed by a stress fracture to his shin. However, he is expected to go straight into the Addicks' squad for their south London derby with Crystal Palace on Saturday.
