Liverpool enjoy away day

Two wins out of two on our away days isn't a bad start. Now if it wasn't for a certain match referee we would have had three out of three to start the season but we must move on.

This was almost the same Liverpool as in years past as we failed to put the game away until very late. However, in years past we wouldn't have put it away and would have been pegged back in the late stages to slump to a 1 -1 draw or a 1-0 defeat.

Both forwards contributed to the game as they worked hard for the cause and it was nice to see Voronin involved in both goals.

Of course Momo's goal was a huge surprise. He was very unlucky not to score against Barca last year when he hit the post but this was a perfect time to get on the score sheet with our skipper, Steven Gerrard, missing.

The move was started by a great chip into Pennant by Alonso, who seems to be coming in for some criticism of late and I can't understand why.

Torres should have scored from a cross by Pennant on the stroke of half-time. The goalkeeper did well but he shouldn't have had a chance. Torres had another great chance to win it when he burst through the heart of the Sunderland defence only to see his effort shot directly at the keeper.

Finally the second goal came in the 85th minute, which was a relief because at this point we were playing without our two starting center-backs.

I had three stand out performers. Arebola, Momo and Pennant but the pick of the bunch was Pennant.
