Leeds revival put to test at Portsmouth

Leeds manager Dennis Wise puts his side's unbeaten start to the League One season to a tough test with the visit to Fratton Park in the Carling Cup.

Wise has seen his side win their first three matches to wipe out nine of the 15 points deducted before the start of the season as part of a Football League punishment over financial irregularities.

Andy Hughes and Ian Westlake could both return to the Leeds squad for a match which only a couple of season ago would have been an all-Premier League clash.

Hughes (groin), a recent signing from Norwich, and Westlake (ankle) missed the weekend win at Nottingham Forest.

Former Chelsea striker Tore Andre Flo could make his first start of the season alongside either Tresor Kandol or Jermaine Beckford, who have scored two goals each this season.

New loan signing Jamie Clapham will retain his place at full-back after his debut at the City Ground.

Bristol Rovers head coach Paul Trollope, whose side beat Championship club Crystal Palace in the first round, could start with Andy Williams and Lewis Haldane who were used as substitutes in Saturday's League One win at Oldham for the cup tie with West Ham.

Goalkeeping coach Steve Book will continue to provide cover for Steve Phillips after Trollope's decision not to make a loan signing when Mike Green broke a finger. Defender Ryan Green (Achilles) remains out.

Luton manager Kevin Blackwell will keep faith with goalkeeper David Forde and midfielder David Bell when his team host Premier League new boys Sunderland.

Defender Alan Goodall should be passed fit despite sustaining a head injury on Saturday, while striker Paul Peschisolido may have to make do with a place on the bench if he recovers sufficiently from his ankle injury.

Swansea boss Roberto Martinez is set to be without defender Marcos Painter for the visit of Reading.

Painter hobbled out of training on Friday with a foot injury and Kevin Austin is likely to fill in.

Fellow defender Alan Tate is also set to miss out as he struggles to shake off a troublesome knee injury, but Paul Anderson could start.

Hereford boss Graham Turner is sweating on the fitness of captain Karl Broadhurst ahead of the visit to Birmingham.

Broadhurst bruised his knee in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Rochdale and was replaced by John McCombe, who is in line to start at St Andrews.

Shrewsbury, who host Fulham, are struggling in attack with striker Andy Cooke carrying a hamstring problem.

Defender Steve Evans and midfielder Mark Jones, both selected in the Wales squad to play Germany and Slovakia in the Euro 2008 qualifiers next month, could return to the Wrexham team against Aston Villa. Eifion Williams has been passed fit following his calf strain.

Blackpool's Gary Taylor-Fletcher (calf), Ben Burgess (hamstring) and Wes Hoolahan (dead leg) are all doubts for their tie at Derby.

Henrik Pedersen is in line to make a surprise debut for Hull at Wigan but forward Nick Barmby is missing after he limped out of Saturday's 2-1 win over Norwich with knee ligament damage.
