Premier Showdown - Aug 18/19

It's been a disappointing start for the Rest of the World as their title defence falters early doors. Dale Johnson and Tommy Smyth have picked up the points from the opening two rounds leaving our challengers' team adrift.

But, as Everton and Manchester City will discover, the table tells many lies at this point in the season!

We've got a Liverpool fan joining us for Round Three. Welcome, Michael Poulin! He's from Regina in California, USA.

He says: 'Hey chaps! I consider myself a full-fledged Kopite and Western Canada's official representative of Liverpool FC, so it's no surprise I picked my boys in red to defend their ground against the Chelsea scourge.

'Football (or soccer as we call it here - our football's not as good) is the highest priority for me, whether playing or watching. I'm very busy, being a partner in a marketing consulting business and spending lots of time hunting and fishing, but I always make time for the beautiful game.

'As I'm only 29 now, I hope to enjoy it for years to come, and would love to see Liverpool surpass Real Madrid as the most successful club in European Cup history!'

Bring it on!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, has the chance to challenge our two experts.

Soccernet's Premier League Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the test.

They, along with the challenger, cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit receives three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total is added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points are shared between those level on points.

It's another low scoring round, and a poor weekend for the Rest of the World team. Dale Johnson makes it back-to-back victories - sneaking home in front of Tommy 'With a Y' after both got the correct scoreline at Ewood Park. The ROTW must know how Sir Alex is feeling.

Table after Round 3:
Dale: 6
Tommy: 3
Rest of the World: 0

FINAL TABLE 2006/07:
Rest of the World: 47.5
Dale: 46
Tommy: 20.5
