Hughes: Rovers takeover talk no distraction

Mark Hughes insists his players will not be distracted by the latest takeover talk surrounding Blackburn.

Rovers are holding a fresh round of talks over a possible buyout by an American consortium led by Dan Williams.

Hughes said: 'It does not affect me in any way.

'The chairman, John Williams, keeps me informed as much as he can and at one point it looked like it may happen.

'Then it went very quiet and it now looks that the interest in the club has got greater during the last week.

'On a day-to-day basis, it has not affected me or the players at all.

'A new buyer will have to prove they can come in and move the club forward and, if they cannot prove that, I am sure the trustees of the club will not sell.'

Blackburn's internationals returned almost unscathed from duties with their various countries except for Norway's Morten Gamst Pedersen, who picked up a kick on the knee but should be fit to travel to Everton tomorrow.

Skipper Ryan Nelsen is suspended after being sent off against Arsenal and Hughes is likely to bring Andre Ooijer into central defence alongside Chris Samba.

Hughes added: 'It's going to be a difficult game tomorrow - it is at the best of times going to Goodison Park and they have started very, very well.

'We have done okay against them in recent times and we are very similar clubs in many respects. If we end the season above them then I would say that we will have had a very successful campaign.'
