Norway - Perfectly balanced

Norway are one of the leading lights in the Women's game and have a good record in this tournament. They were runners-up in China 1991, champions in Sweden 1995, finished fourth in USA 1999 and were quarter finalists in USA 2003.

Their coach, Bjarne Berntsen, is looking to take his team of youthful and experienced players into the top three in China, which is an achievable goal for Norway.

They have one of the best goalkeepers in Bente Nordby and an industrious playmaker called Solveig Gulbrandsen who will be sure to want to make a good impression since taking a year out of the game in 2006 to have a baby.

They have quality in every department but have an unfortunate inconsistency in front of goal, which is something you cannot afford to have when you're playing against the world's best football teams.

The qualifiers proved to be a breeze for the Norwegians, winning seven of their eight matches with only a 1-1 draw with the Ukraine preventing them from having a clean sweep.

They also had an impressive goal record of 22 for and 3 against which will be a great confidence booster for the players who are eager to make their mark on the global stage.
