Lyon captain Cris out for six months with knee injury
LYON, France, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Olympique Lyon captain Cris will be out of action for six months because of torn right knee ligaments, the six-times French champions said on Monday.
The Brazil defender, who sustained the injury in a clash with Sweden striker Johan Elmander in Lyon's 1-0 defeat at Toulouse on Saturday, will undergo surgery in the next few days, Lyon doctor Jean-Jacques Amprino told Reuters.
His injury is another blow to Lyon, who will be without France goalkeeper Gregory Coupet for four months, also because of damaged knee ligaments. Coupet, who hurt himself in training, underwent surgery last week.
