David Beckham claims he will be selected for England's friendly with Germany even if he is not fit to play.
The England midfielder has only played for 21 minutes since his move to Los Angeles Galaxy as he recovers from an ankle problem and was forced to sit out last night's 1-0 defeat by New England Revolution.
England host Germany at Wembley before resuming their Euro 2008 qualification campaign against Israel and Russia next month and Beckham believes he will be involved regardless of whether he will play.
He said: 'I spoke to Steve (McClaren) about my fitness and how it has been over here.
'He said he is looking forward to to me coming over, even if I can't play.
'It is important that all the players are together.
'It is good to get together as a team, so hopefully I can be there, but I have to be fit physically and mentally to play for the country and I have to play for the Galaxy first.'
