West Brom have signed Middlesbrough midfielder James Morrison in a £1.5million deal.
The 21-year-old, who is Albion's second signing of the day after defender Carl Hoefkens joined from Stoke for £750,000, has signed a four-year contract after passing a medical at The Hawthorns today. The fee could rise by a further £700,000 depending on appearances and Boro will also be due 15% of any sell-on fee.
He was a member of Boro's 2004 FA Youth Cup-winning side and made his first-team debut, aged 17, the same year.
Under former boss Steve McClaren he also started in the 2006 UEFA Cup final defeat to Seville.
But he found it difficult to break into Southgate's starting XI last term, making just 15 league starts for the north-east club.
