Sydney FC sticking to its guns on Carney

Sydney FC boss George Perry says the A-League club will only release star players David Carney and Mark Milligan to overseas sides if the transfer fee price is right.

Perry says Carney and Milligan, who both played for the Socceroos in the Asian Cup, are valuable assets for Sydney FC and they will not be giving them the green to light to play abroad unless the harbour city club is well compensated.

Carney has reportedly attracted interest from English Premier League side Sheffield United while Milligan is rumoured to have already trialled with French club Metz.

Milligan and Carney are expected to return to Sydney FC training on Thursday after being given extra time off after the Asian Cup.

Sydney FC were beaten 3-0 by the Central Coast Mariners in their A-League Pre-Season Cup match at Canberra on Sunday and finished winless at the bottom of the Group B table.
