Fiorentina striker Toni to have foot surgery
MILAN, May 17 (Reuters) - Italy striker Luca Toni will have surgery in the next few days to clear up a foot problem, his club Fiorentina said on Thursday.
'In consideration of Luca Toni's painful metatarsal, it has been decided to proceed with surgery in the coming days,' said a statement on Fiorentina's Web site (www.acffiorentina.it).
The club gave no indication of how long he would be out for but the player, who has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in media reports, is certain to miss the last two games of the Serie A season with Fiorentina on the brink of UEFA Cup qualification.
The World Cup-winning forward could also be doubtful for Italy's Euro 2008 qualifiers in the Faroe Islands and Lithuania on June 2 and June 6.
