Real Salt Lake releases Tejada
SALT LAKE CITY -- Real Salt Lake released Luis Tejada on Thursday, ending the Panamanian striker's short tenure with the Major League Soccer club.
Salt Lake signed Tejada in December, hoping he would add some offense for the third-year club. But Tejada played in just one game for RSL.
"Unfortunately, we felt that Luis would not fit in our plans as we look to move forward and shape our roster for the remainder of the season," RSL coach Jason Kreis said in a release.
Kreis retired as a player last week and took over the team as coach.
RSL also on Thursday announced it had signed defenseman/midfielder Jean-Martial Kipre and waived forward Jeff Rowland, who tore a ligament in his right knee and is out for the season.
