Extent of Beckham's knee injury unknown
MADRID, Spain -- David Beckham and Jose Antonio Reyes picked up injuries in Real Madrid's 1-1 home draw with Getafe in the Primera Liga and look certain to miss the trip to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Beckham will undergo further tests Monday to determine the extent of the right knee injury.
Reyes was carried off on a stretcher in the first half after colliding with the visiting goalkeeper. Beckham limped off in the 69th minute.
"They are out of the Bayern game for sure. One of them [Reyes] has a serious injury and the other could have a significant one," Real coach Fabio Capello said on Sunday. "We'll have to see what the tests say tomorrow."
The club's Web site said Reyes had damaged the lateral ligament in his left knee, while Beckham had a similar injury in his right knee.
Beckham, the former England national team captain, signed a five-year deal worth about $27.5 million in base salary in January with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer.
Beckham, who joined Madrid from Manchester United in 2003, has said he plans to leave Real Madrid after his contract expires June 30 and to join the Galaxy in August.
