Catania lose appeal against stadium ban
ROME, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Serie A team Catania lost an appeal on Thursday against the ban imposed on their Massimino stadium.
The Italian Football League last week ordered Catania to play the rest of the season's home games at neutral venues behind closed doors as punishment for the violence at their match against Palermo on February 2, in which a policeman died.
The Football League disciplinary committee confirmed the ban, but reduced the fine from €50,000 to €20,000.
Catania are seventh in Serie A on 31 points, 32 behind leaders Inter Milan who they play on Sunday at Cesena's Manuzzi stadium.
