France: PSG end streak with defeat of Monaco
PARIS, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Amara Diane scored a double and Mickael Landreau saved a penalty as Paris St Germain ended a 12-match Ligue 1 winless streak with a 4-2 victory over Monaco on Saturday.
The result lifted troubled PSG to 15th in the standings with 25 points from 24 matches, four points above the relegation zone while Monaco remain 13th on 29 points.
Striker Diane opened the scoring when he headed home Jerome Rothen's corner in the fifth minute. He doubled the tally half an hour later during a goalmouth scramble.
Monaco striker Frederic Piquionne, who joined fom St Etienne during the winter transfer window, reduced the gap from close range five minutes after the interval.
In the 77th minute, Landreau saved a Piquionne penalty following a foul by Sylvain Armand on Juan Pablo Pino.
PSG scored twice in the final minutes.
Argentine playmaker Marcelo Gallardo made it 3-1 with a fine free kick two minutes before Cristian Rodriguez rubbed salt into Monaco's wounds by adding a fourth.
Czech striker Jan Koller scored a consolation goal for the principality team three minutes from time.
