Gow signs pre-contract deal with Rangers

Rangers have clinched the signing of Falkirk striker Alan Gow on a pre-contract agreement.

The 24-year-old will move to Ibrox at the end of the season and has signed a three-year deal.

Gow was the subject of three failed bids from Rangers during January as Falkirk succeeded in their aim to keep him with them until the end of the campaign, when his current contract expires.

Gow, who received a Scotland B call-up for next week's match against Finland B, will move on a free transfer at the end of the season.

He told the official Rangers website: 'I am pleased to sign a pre-contract with Rangers. However, I am fully committed to playing for Falkirk between now and the end of the season.'

The early move for Gow was finalised this evening, with Rangers signing a player who manager Walter Smith believes can add quality to his attacking options.

Earlier in the day Rangers stressed there was no transfer imminent, however the mutual desire from player and club to link up next season meant it became a simple deal to complete.

Rangers are believed to have offered Falkirk in the region of £150,000, plus add-ons based on performance, in order to land Gow last month.

However Falkirk's aspirations of finishing in the top six of the Bank of Scotland Premier League meant they turned down the approach.

Gow has so far kept his counsel regarding the transfer, and has given no public indication of frustration in respect to Falkirk's stance.

He has now obtained the move he wanted all along and could join Danish striker Adda Djeziri at Rangers.

Djeziri has joined the Light Blues on loan from BK Frem until the end of the season.

The 18-year-old was recruited before the transfer window closed last night, and will now have the chance to earn a permanent move to Ibrox.

Djeziri said: 'It's a big club. Everything about the club is good and it works well for everyone, so I am very pleased.'

The low-profile deal may not have an immediate impact on the first team, but Rangers will be hoping that Djeziri does enough to justify a long-term stay in Glasgow.

Previous Danes to have enjoyed success at Ibrox include Brian Laudrup and Peter Lovenkrands.

BK Frem head coach Anders Theil said: 'It is of course a shame that we won't have Adda here this spring, but he has the chance to prove himself in Scotland.

'It's good for Adda, and he could join Rangers after the loan period and BK Frem could receive some money.'

Theil said: 'He's got good potential and he's a very quick player, but he is still young.

'I don't think he will be near the first team in the first half year, although they have the option to buy him in the summer.'
