Blackburn forward Matt Derbyshire is one of three new faces in a squad of 23 which has been named for Stuart Pearce's first game in charge of the England Under-21s team.
Derbyshire, Aston Villa defender Gary Cahill and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart (currently on loan at Tranmere Rovers) are selected for the first time.
The friendly against Spain at Pride Park on Tuesday will be a key part of the team's preparation for the UEFA Under-21s European Championship, which will be held in Holland in June.
The match sees City boss Pearce at the helm for the first time, after the wrangle between the FA and his club over whether he could take on the additional role.
