Ten-man Porto suffer second league defeat

LISBON, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Leaders Porto suffered their second league defeat of the season as they went down 1-0 at Uniao Leiria after having Ricardo Quaresma sent off on Friday.

Porto remain top with 40 points from 16 matches, seven clear of Sporting who visit Boavista on Sunday. Benfica, who meet Belenenses on Saturday, are third a point behind Sporting.

Fourth-placed Uniao Leiria scored the only goal after 71 minutes when Tixier headed home a free kick by winger Ivanildo at the far post to end the champions's eight-match winning run.

By then Porto had lost winger Quaresma who was dismissed just before halftime for fouling French defender Tixier.
