Robbie Savage has been confirmed as having suffered a broken leg in Blackburn's 2-1 defeat at Watford tonight.
The Welsh midfielder was hurt early in the second half in a challenge with Al Bangura and had to be carried off on a stretcher.
Manager Mark Hughes said: 'We have just got news from the hospital that it is a break. How severe it is, we don't know yet.'
The Bangura challenge was his second on Savage in a matter of seconds and was deemed to be perfectly legal by by Dermot Gallagher.
But television replays appeared to show it had been over the top.
Hughes added: 'People have said that but I haven't seen it. I need to look at it again.
'I hope there was nothing untoward, just two guys going in for a challenge in a wholehearted way.'
Savage was due to fly back to Manchester with the rest of the squad having become Rovers' second broken-leg victim in a matter of days, with Andre Ooijer having suffered the same fate at Manchester City on Saturday.
