Middlesbrough close in on capture of Dong-Gook

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is trying to tie up a deal to bring South Korean international striker Lee Dong-Gook to the Premiership.

The 27-year-old Pohang Steelers player has spent the last week on Teesside training with Boro, and talks are under way which could see him join the club.

Southgate said: 'Lee has been training with us for the last week. He is a South Korean international striker and we have been very impressed with his attitude, the way he has trained and his ability.

'He has a proven goalscoring record at international level and it is something we are hoping to take further.'

Lee has some experience in European football after a spell with Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga.
