Jones foresees lifestyle change for new team-mate

Cobi Jones is predicting an 'interesting' time for his new LA Galaxy team-mate when David Beckham arrives in America next summer to start his £120million-plus five-year contract.

Former Coventry player Jones is well aware of the media attention the former England captain and his pop-star wife Victoria have been used to in his time at Manchester United and then Real Madrid, but he hinted Beckham should be prepared for a new ball game on America's west coast.

'I think it is going to be interesting for him. He is definitely going to have a different style of life over here,' Jones predicted on Sky Sports.

'The attention that he is going to get from the media in the Hollywood area is going to be a bit interesting. Everyone will come out of the woodwork, not just to see the team but him.

'He is in the superstar and Hollywood set already - but since this announcement, I have been bombarded by messages from friends about him coming.'

US international Jones has no doubt Beckham will prove a major asset, not just to his new club but to football as a whole in America.

'It is definitely something that will help not only Galaxy but US soccer in general,' he said.

'The league has grown and developed over the past 10 years - it is getting better and better and the competition higher.

'But this is another large leap; to have a player of Beckham's stature can only bring more attention to the sport.'
