Premier Showdown - Dec 30 & Jan 1/2

There's been a bit of a buzz around the Soccernet office this week after Tommy Smyth shocked us all by clocking up his first victory of the season. Dale Johnson, too, had cause to celebrate by winning the pre-Christmas round but it was a blank Christmas for the Rest of the World team. Check out the results here.

It's another double-header over New Year with six more points to play for. Can the ROTW pull back some pride?

The last challenger of 2006 is Hushton Keitebe Leareng who lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Hushton, who moved to Australia from Botswana, tells us that he is a second year medical student who lives just for football. He says: 'I'm not a very good Monday person because Premiership games start at around midnight and go on until about 5 or 6am here! When there are Champions League games I sometimes have to miss my morning classes to watch! I cant wait to go back to Africa where the time difference is not an issue.

'If I could make a wish... it would be to see Old Trafford! Every guy wants to be invited to their girlfriend's bedroom and Man Utd is my girlfriend! I love that team.'

Some interesting insights there, not all of which are endorsed by those at Soccernet Towers!

Out goes 2006, and we're into 2007 with Tanvir Singh.

Tanvir is from Suva in Fiji. He says: 'I am 13 years young and I study in Indian College. I support Manchester united and my favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo. I like him because he uses his talent very well and he is very exciting to watch. I hope Man Utd will do the same as they did in 1999.'

The next round of game begins on January 13 due to the Third Round of the FA Cup.

Let's play!

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, will get the chance to challenge our two experts. They, along with the challenger, will cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Soccernet's Premiership Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the challenge from our team.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline
• One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit will receive three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total will be added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points will be shared between those level on points.

Back-to-back victories for Tommy! Yes, our pundit finally seems to have found form and picked out the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge to underline that fact. Can he keep it up?

It's a woefully low-scoring round as Tommy and Tanvir take a share of the spoils. Again it's a Chelsea draw which gets Tommy in the points - well done, my son!

Score after 22 rounds:
Dale: 32.5
Rest of the World: 23.5
Tommy: 10
