City's Pearce interested in Beckham
Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce believes David Beckham would be a massive asset to most clubs - including his.
The former England captain will discuss his future with Real Madrid today, with his advisors insisting the club's offer of a new contract is still on the table despite reports yesterday suggesting the Spanish giants want to offload the 31-year-old.
When asked if he would be interested in signing Beckham, Pearce's initial response was: 'Well he is extremely good looking, isn't he?'
The City boss added: 'He is a great player, of course. But we are Manchester City, he played for Manchester United.
'I think most teams in the world would be interested in taking on David Beckham on a Bosman in the summer.
'If we had any inkling he would be interested in playing for this club, we would be very interested.
'He is fully fit, he is fully focussed on the job he wants to do. He is arguably still the best dead-ball kicker in the world.
'Six months ago he was captain of England. I would not write him off at the moment.
'He can play to whatever age he wants to as he is a clever-enough footballer. He still has a bright future.'
