Ahn Jung-hwan returns to Korea with Bluewings

SEOUL, Jan 10 (Reuters) - Former MSV Duisburg forward Ahn Jung-hwan has said he abandoned Germany for a return to his native South Korea because he wanted to play with a winning side.

The 29-year-old signed a one-year contract with 2004 K-League champions Suwon Samsung Bluewings on Tuesday, ending an overseas spell stretching back to 2000 that also included time in Italy, Japan and France.

'I wanted to win and I wanted a team that is able to win. I wanted to be a part of prestigious team, so I chose Suwon,' Ahn told reporters on Wednesday.

When asked about a possible return to Europe for the player who scored a golden goal in South Korea's 2002 World Cup victory over Italy, Ahn said: 'If I do a good job this season, then I may re-sign with Suwon, or another promising future may open for me'.
