Stuart Pearce has hinted Claudio Reyna may want to quit Manchester City.
The former USA captain was reported to have already left the club but manager Pearce is adamant he will not be allowed to move on unless his departure is 'in the best interests' of City.
Reyna, 33, has not played since mid-December and Pearce admits the midfielder and the club are in discussions over a family issue.
'For his personal reasons, we are in talks with him and his representatives due to that he might want to go back to the States,' Pearce said on City's official website.
'That's purely a family scenario. Until anything is resolved on that, he stays a Manchester City player.
He added: 'Players will only be allowed to leave if it is in the best interests of the football club.'
