Huddlestone seals four and a half year Spurs deal

Tom Huddlestone tonight committed himself to Tottenham for the next four and a half years after signing a new contract with the Barclays Premiership club.

The deal, effective from January 1, ties the highly-rated 19-year-old midfielder to Spurs until the summer of 2011.

The England Under-21 star has started 14 of Tottenham's last 19 games and recently netted his first Premiership goal.

'I am thoroughly enjoying my football at Spurs and the way things are going,' said Huddlestone, who turns 20 on Thursday.

'I am delighted with my new contract and I'm really looking forward to playing a part in the team doing well.'

Manager Martin Jol added: 'Tom is one of the biggest talents in the English game and this is great news, both for the club - that such a quality player has signed a long-term contract - and for Tom who, as a young player, can play alongside experienced internationals who will help him continue to fulfil his potential.'
