La Liga wrap: Angulo strike wins Valencia points

MADRID, Dec 16 (Reuters) - Miguel Angulo's wonder strike won Valencia all three points at Real Zaragoza in Saturday's later game.

Angulo scored his third goal of the season with a magnificent goal struck from thirty yards out to give the visitors the lead against the run of play. Valencia's win moves them up to fifth place in La Liga, just behind Zaragoza.

Midfielder Javi Martinez struck twice to help Athletic Bilbao to their second victory in a row under new coach Mane with a 2-0 win at out-of-form Deportivo Coruna in the Primera Liga on Saturday.

Athletic, who beat Recreativo Huelva 4-2 last week, got off to a perfect start in the torrential rain at the Riazor when Martinez sent a glancing header into the net after a corner in the eighth minute.

Depor, who were hammered 4-0 by Valencia last weekend, fought back hard and dominated possession but their attacks were broken up by a succession of fouls from the Bilbao midfielders.

Any hopes of a Depor comeback were ended when centre back Juanma was sent off late in the game and the home side were made to pay when Martinez bundled home at the second attempt in the final minute.

The win lifted Athletic four points clear of the relegation zone and just three adrift of Depor who have now gone eight matches since their last win.

Racing Santander fought their way back from a goal down to snatch a 2-1 at Real Mallorca, second half strikes from former Real Madrid youth teamers Ruben and Javier Balboa cancelling out a neat half volley from Serbian striker Bosko Jankovic.
