Gunners chief: Arsenal are not a one-man team

Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood insists the Gunners do not rely too heavily on Thierry Henry.

Henry's goals since his arrival from Juventus in 1999 have helped Arsenal to two Premiership titles and three FA Cups.

A sciatic nerve problem could see the France striker sidelined until the new year but Hill-Wood insists there is no panic at Ashburton Grove.

'Arsene Wenger has always said that it is not a one-man team,' he told the club's official website.

'Thierry has not played all that much this season and the boys have proved that they can play whether he is with them or not.

'You must miss a player of Thierry Henry's talent but the others have done very well indeed.'

Arsenal drew 1-1 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday but they still trail Premiership leaders Manchester United by 18 points.

Hill-Wood added: 'We've had one or two disappointing results this season when we have drawn but we should have won. That would have put us up the table.

'However, they are a very young side and I am delighted at the way we have played our football that has been hugely entertaining.'

Wenger insists there will be new arrivals in the January transfer window and Hill-Wood claims the Arsenal manager has never been refused money to fund signings.

'Arsene has been very shrewd in his transfer dealings. He has not spent huge amounts but has produced a side that can compete at the highest level,' Hill-Wood said.

'We have never denied him any money but then has never asked for silly amounts.'
