AMSTERDAM, Dec 3 (Reuters) - Ajax Amsterdam and AZ Alkmaar registered big wins in the Dutch league on Sunday by beating Willem II Tilburg and Excelsior Rotterdam 6-0 and 5-0 respectively.
Alkmaar striker Danny Koevermans set up Shota Arveladze for the opening goal after 10 minutes and added two of his own before the break to settle the match.
Arveladze scored his second 10 minutes into the second half, while Cristian Gyan completed the rout with an own goal in the 77th.
PSV Eindhoven are top with 40 points after 15 matches, following a 1-0 away win at Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday, five above second placed Alkmaar.
Ajax hit four goals in the opening 23 minutes to sink Willem II, who had 10 men for the last 10 minutes. Zdenek Grygera, Urby Emanuelson, Nicolea Mitea and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored.
Huntelaar added a fifth before the break, while Tom de Mul completed the rampage with 12 minutes remaining. Willem II's Jose Valencia was sent off in the 80th.
Ajax remained third with 34 points, five more then Twente Enschede, 0-0 at NAC Breda, and Feyenoord, who beat Heerenveen in a seven-goal spectacle.
Heerenveen took the lead after 23 minutes but Stein Huysegems equalised a minute before the interval and scored his second seven minutes later.
Theo Lucius converted a penalty to give Feyenoord a two-goal lead but a double from Rob Friend in five minutes levelled the match. Jonathan de Guzman found the winner to make it 4-3 six minutes from time.
