Defoe vows to battle on at Tottenham
Jermain Defoe insists his future is at Tottenham despite admitting he is frustrated by not regularly starting in the first-team at White Hart Lane.
The England striker has been linked with a move away from north London but Defoe is adamant leaving has never crossed his mind despite only making seven league starts so far this season.
The 24-year-old told the Daily Telegraph: 'No, it hasn't because when I run out on to that pitch the fans are great to me. I love playing for this club. All my friends are here.
'The lads are great and we've got a young squad.'
Instead, Defoe wants to force himself into the forefront of coach Martin Jol's plans, claiming it would be a cop out just to look for a transfer.
He said: 'I think that's weak. I like the challenge. If I'm not in the team, I just think to myself `right, I'm going to show the manager, even if it's in training, that I should be in there'.
'If he doesn't play me, I'll try to show him again.'
