Struggling Tarragona part company with boss
MADRID, Nov 27 (Reuters) - Gimnastic Tarragona sacked coach Luis Angel Cesar after the club lost 3-2 at home to Real Mallorca on Sunday, to slip to the foot of the Primera Liga table.
'The board would like to thank him for his part in winning promotion to the Primera Liga and for his exemplary behaviour through some difficult times, especially over the last few weeks,' the club said on their official website.
The Catalan club won promotion to the top flight for the first time in 56 years at the end of last season.
But they have only taken five points from the first 12 games of the campaign, and have the league's leakiest defence with 26 goals conceded. They were knocked out of the King's Cup by second division Valladolid.
Cesar's number two Kiko Ramirez and fitness coach Xavier Bartolo will take charge of the team on a temporary basis, the club said.
