MADRID, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Real Betis winger David Odonkor faces an extended spell on the sidelines after damaging his kneecap playing for Germany.
The German Football Federation has sent Betis a medical report explaining that the winger received a heavy blow to his kneecap during last week's 1-1 draw with Cyprus in a Euro 2008 qualifier.
The Spanish club added that a small piece of bone appeared to have been dislodged as a result of the blow.
Betis said they would carry out further tests on the 22-year-old to determine whether surgery was required.
Odonkor, who was part of Germany's World Cup squad, joined Betis from Borussia Dortmund for six million euros ($7.69 million) during the close season.
