ADO coach Adelaar resigns after pitch invasion
AMSTERDAM, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Frans Adelaar has stepped down as coach of struggling Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag after hundreds of angry fans invaded the pitch on Sunday to protest against the side's poor results.
ADO said in a statement on Monday that the incidents made it impossible for Adelaar to continue his work.
The club are bottom in the league with five points after 12 matches.
Their game against Vitesse Arnhem was suspended midway through the second half, with ADO 3-0 down and reduced to 10 men, when fans invaded the pitch and threatened players, coaches and officials.
