Eredivisie: Ajax held at home by FC Twente

AMSTERDAM, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Ajax Amsterdam were held 1-1 at home by Twente Enschede in the Dutch league on Sunday.

Orlando Engelaar opened the scoring for Twente after eight minutes when he volleyed home Rob Wielaert's ball but Wesley Sneijder curled a free kick around the wall for the equaliser early in the second half.

PSV Eindhoven are top with 34 points after a 4-0 win over Excelsior Rotterdam on Saturday, three above Ajax after 13 matches.

AZ Alkmaar are third with 29 points after Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Feyenoord, who climbed to fourth on 26 points. Twente are fifth on 25.

On Sunday, Groningen brushed aside Willem II Tilburg 4-1 to recover from last week's 7-1 thumping at Twente.

Erik Nevland opened the scoring seven minutes before the interval and doubled the lead early in the second half before Anouar Hadouir pulled one back for the visitors.

With five minutes remaining Yevgeni Levchenko converted a penalty to seal the victory, while Glen Salmon added a fourth in stoppage time.

Rick Kruys and Gregoor van Dijk scored to inspire Utrecht to a 2-0 home win over 10-men Roda JC Kerkrade, who had goalkeeper Vladan Kujovic sent off midway through the second half.

Vitesse Arnhem were 3-0 up at strugglers ADO Den Haag when the match was abandoned after ADO fans invaded the pitch to protest about the club's plight.
