READING, England -- American striker Eddie Johnson plans to visit Reading of the English Premier League.
Johnson plays for the Kansas City Wizards in the MLS, and Reading manager Steve Coppell was vague Friday about his plans to recruit him.
"He is coming over for an educational visit," Coppell said. "He is coming to see how we do things and the way we prepare. To say he is coming for a trial is way off base."
The 22-year-old Johnson played on the U.S. World Cup team in Germany. At Reading he could join two other American internationals -- winger Bobby Convey and goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann.
Any move is likely to come in January during the transfer period.
"He is someone who has been on a lot of clubs' radars," Coppell said.
