Premier Showdown - Nov 11/12

Tommy Smyth had cause to celebrate last weekend as he found a bit of form to pick up his second set of point of the season, forcing a draw with Dale Johnson in what was a disappointingly low-scoring round.

It was a bad weekend for the Rest of the World team, and they will look to improve this time around courtesy of the picks from Rodney Clack.

Rodney lives in the sports crazy city of Centurion in South Africa. It has the top rugby team in the country and one of the top cricket and soccer teams.

He tells us: 'My favourite soccer teams are Real Madrid, Roma, Chelsea and Benfica. I am 56 years old and a financial consultant by profession.

'The one thing hate about the modern game is the way teams claim to "win a penalty" and commentators worldwide seem to go along with the dishonesty about the whole thing. Coaches are teaching the players to cheat as soon as the are in or near the box.' I think that's something that gets on the goat of most fans!

Let's take a look at the selections.

Each week one of our readers, or an ESPNSoccernet Press Pass viewer, will get the chance to challenge our two experts. They, along with the challenger, will cast their eyes over weekend's top flight fixtures in England and predict how they think each game will turn out.

Soccernet's Premiership Editor, Dale Johnson, and Press Pass pundit Tommy Smyth take up the challenge from our team.

Points are then awarded as follows:
• Three points for a correct result and scoreline

  • One point for a correct result

After the weekend's scores are in and the result has been worked out, the winning pundit will receive three points for their season's total. Should the challenger win, the total will be added to the 'Rest of the World's' tally. In the case of a draw, the points will be shared between those level on points.
