Alan Curbishley has ruled out a return to Charlton after insisting he is not interested in replacing Iain Dowie.
Dowie has left The Valley after just 15 games in charge with the south London club rooted to the bottom of the Premiership following eight league defeats and just two victories.
Curbishley left The Valley after 15 years in charge in the summer and has declared his readiness to return to the game but he has ruled out Charlton as a possible destination.
He told Sky Sports News: 'I left Charlton for a new challenge.
'Going back would not be good for me or for the club.'
Curbishley has previously stated he would like to try his hand at a bigger club and may still have international ambitions having been interviewed for the England post before the appointment of Steve McClaren.
