Russia's Ignashevich misses Macedonia game
MOSCOW, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Russia's injured defender Sergei Ignashevich will not play in the Euro 2008 qualifier away to Macedonia on Wednesday, the Russian Soccer Union said on Monday.
The CSKA Moscow skipper hurt his ankle in a league match against Zenit St Petersburg a week ago.
'The dynamic of his recovery was positive but not as speedy as we would have liked,' the union said on its Web site.
Russia coach Guus Hiddink has also dropped long-time national team captain Alexei Smertin and Zenit striker Alexander Kerzhakov from the 23-man squad he named last week for the Group E match in Skopje.
Russia are in fifth place in Group E behind England, Croatia, Macedonia and Israel with five points from three matches.
