Spireites humbled by Basingstoke

Non-league Basingstoke shocked Chesterfield 1-0 to knock the Coca-Cola League One side out of the FA Cup.

Matthew Warner (25) scored the only goal of the first round tie at The Camrose to hand the Nationwide Conference South's bottom side an unexpected victory.

Defeat for the Spireites represented a major downturn in their fortunes after a recent Carling Cup run which saw them knock out Barclays Premiership clubs Manchester City and West Ham before going out on penalties to Charlton in midweek.

Conference strugglers Rushden defeated League One Yeovil -- themselves renowned giant-killers -- 3-1 thanks to Chris Hope (28) and Michael Rankine's double strike (54 and 75), with Chris Cohen (62) providing the Glovers' only relief.

Paul Sturrock started his career at Swindon with a surprise win over League One promotion hopefuls Carlisle, after Chris Lumsdon's ninth-minute own goal set the tone for the Cumbrians' afternoon.

Christian Roberts (73 and 90) confirmed the victory after Kevin Gray had equalised.

League One Gillingham fared better in their Kent derby with Ryman Premier Division Bromley, emerging 4-1 winners thanks to braces from Mark Bentley (31 and 59) and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu (84 and 90), Nic McDonnell (70) with a consolation.

A 90th-minute winner from Chris Hall sealed a thrilling 4-3 victory for League One Oldham at Conference North side Kettering.

Craig McIllain (52), Zema Abbey (62) and Brett Solkhon (84) scored for Town, while the Latics' other goals came from debutante Sean Gregan (43), Paul Warne (56) and Neal Trotman (60).

League Two Peterborough stunned League One Rotherham 3-0 at London Road through goals from Richard Butcher (29), Aaron McLean (59) and Danny Crow (73).

Shrewsbury and Hereford played out a goalless draw at Gay Meadow in the Welsh borders derby

Swansea ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in their clash with Welsh Nationwide Conference South minnows Newport, as goals from Lee Trundle (7), Izzy Iriekpen (31) and Leon Brittain (48) effectively won the game by half-time, before Ian Hillier's consolation soon after the interval.

Late goals from Tom Pope (69) and Nick Rogan (77) could not prevent Conference North side Barrow crashing 3-2 to Bristol Rovers, after Richard Walker (35), Craig Disley (62) and Byron Anthony (67) gave the league side a comfortable lead.

League Two Darlington cruised to a 4-1 win at Conference South side Lewes thanks to Martin Smith (38 and 90) Patrick Collins (62) Kalu Ngoma (82), while Lee Farrell (79) struck for the east Sussex club.
