Leagues wrap: Hammam sets Cardiff departure date

The deal which will conclude Sam Hammam's ownership of Championship leaders CARDIFF will be officially completed on December 15.

Hammam has been forced to step down to enable finances to be put in place to guarantee that the club's proposed 30,000-capacity stadium can be built.

'Technically, I'm currently still owner of Cardiff City, but that will change next month,' confirmed Hammam, who still holds an eight per cent interest in the Ninian Park club.

New chairman Peter Ridsdale has taken control of the club on a day-to-day basis while former Wimbledon chairman Hammam has accepted a post as honorary president.

Dennis Wise has completed his second loan signing as LEEDS manager with the capture of COVENTRY defender Matt Heath.

Wise, who drafted in Reading goalkeeper Graham Stack shortly after his recent arrival at Elland Road, has moved to shore up Leeds' leaky defence, which has conceded 15 goals in the last five matches.

Heath, 25, has completed his medical and will initially stay at Leeds until January 1.

'This is a great opportunity for me,' Heath said. 'I was told I could find somewhere on loan and things have happened really quickly. This is a great club with a great set-up. Thorp Arch (training ground) is out of this world.'

IPSWICH have agreed a four-year deal with sportswear manufacturers Mitre.

The deal marks Mitre's return to the football kit design and development arena after a seven-year absence, having previously worked with international and domestic teams including Cameroon, Burnley and Hibernian.

TORQUAY chairman Chris Roberts has confirmed he is holding talks in a bid to relocate the club to a brand new stadium at the Recreation Ground on the seafront.

Roberts is looking to incorporate Torquay Athletic Rugby Club and Torquay Cricket Club, who are both based at the Recreation Ground, along with an athletics track.

'We're aiming to create a 21st century facility at the Rec. It's about what's best for the Bay as a whole. We must maximise the site's potential,' Roberts told the club's official website.

BARNSLEY are bracing themselves for possible Football Association sanctions following Saturday's pitch invasion at Oakwell.

Play was held up when Tykes fans spilled onto the pitch to celebrate Brian Howard's derby-day winner against Leeds and referee Phil Crossley has included the incident in his match report.

Barnsley chiefs now fear a heavy FA reprimand and have launched an appeal to supporters for help in identifying those responsible.

A club statement read: 'The match referee has made reference to a pitch invasion in his official report to the FA and the club could now face a fine, the potential loss of points or the enforced closure of a section of the Enterprise Stand at Oakwell.

'Barnsley Football Club need to take positive action immediately to identify those persons who ran onto the pitch last weekend and are appealing for help in identifying those responsible and need the help of supporters.

'Any conversation will remain in the strictest confidence and any help is greatly appreciated.'
