Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce is already making plans for the January transfer window.
Pearce knows he must strengthen his squad in a bid to achieve greater consistency after a mixed start to the season which has seen the Blues go five games unbeaten at home, without conceding a goal, while picking up only one point from six outings on their travels.
Although the City manager refused to outline which areas of his side he was looking to reinforce, it is believed he is after at least four players, with presumably a striker on the hit-list given his forwards have managed a combined tally of just two goals this term.
And, while it will be another seven weeks before Pearce can take the plunge, he is already identifying targets and was at Stoke on Monday running the rule over more potential recruits.
'We are looking at players who will improve us,' he said. 'I need to sit down with the chairman and see what finance is available to me but I have positions I am prioritising.
'Not a great deal of business gets done during the January window, so whether I can get those players is another matter. But we have certainly been very busy looking.'
