Alan Buckley has returned to Grimsby for a third time after being unveiled as the League Two club's new manager.
The 55-year-old enjoyed success with the Mariners in his two previous spells and takes over from Graham Rodger, who was sacked this week in the wake of the club's dismal start to the season.
Buckley, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year rolling contract, took Grimsby from the old Fourth Division to the First Division and kept them there for six years in his first spell between 1988 and 1994.
In his second stay between 1997 and 2001 he won another promotion to Divison One and led the club to Wembley twice.
Caretaker manager Stuart Watkiss will remain at the club as Buckley's assistant.
