Martin O'Neill has stated that his Aston Villa players have two months to prove themselves before the January transfer window.
Speaking to the club's website he said: 'I want another two months of football before I make a genuine and concerted judgement on the players here - and that's on players who have played pretty often.
'You can imagine how less informed I'd be on those who would have played less. Once I make my mind up I may stick with it, but at the moment I'm deliberating.
'So I'm not going to be making big rash judgements here for another couple of months when I will have definitely known the strengths and weaknesses of everybody in the squad.'
At this afternoon's press conference he confirmed: 'We want to try and improve the squad.
'It's more difficult to do than to say, but we will try our utmost anyway.'
Villa face Blackburn on Sunday and will be looking to bounce back after last Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield saw them lose their unbeaten record in the Premiership.
